Purchase a Pre-Cut A-16

Purple Martin House In

KIT FORM

OK... I've been asked time and time again, "Do I build my house to sell?" and I usually said "no".  It wasn't something that I wanted to do weekend after weekend.  I've built a number of them, so I pretty much know what's involved.  However; a few folks have told me that they really like my house, but just don't have the ability (or tools) to cut one out and build it, so I decided I'd give it a go, build a house or two and ship them complete to individuals that wanted one.

HOWEVER; it was quickly discovered that UPS and FED EX could care less about a martin house regardless of how much packaging is put around it and I found myself having to replace broken parts and the extra time and money spent just wasn't worth it.  SO...I'm sorry to say, I no longer sell them pre-assembled.

INSTEAD...I will sell the house in KIT FORM, fully cut out and ready to be screwed together.  I will cut out all the pieces, package and ship them along with all hardware and all the purchaser has to do is screw it together.

Just as before:

-The kit has to be pre-ordered.  I'm not going to build and stock them, (although I will try to keep one ready to go).

-The purchaser will be responsible for shipping costs.  The house weighs 100 lbs.

...and what do I get when I place my order?

You will get all the parts to assemble a complete purple martin house as shown in the above photos.  Please note; this house is designed to fit on a 1.90 O.D. Sched 80 Steel pipeNO, it will not fit any other size pipes; the 1.90 dimension is built right into the house.

A complete set of instructions and drawings will be furnished and all that's required is to follow them.

Also supplied are the winch and pulley kit along with instructions for them.

Finishing of the house will be the responsibility of the purchaser.

The house is built with 2" round holes, but will have the ability to add Molded Tunnel Inserts (as shown) so that European Starlings are kept at bay should you wish to order them.  The house is designed to use them and yes, Starlings will quickly take this house over if some preventative measures are not taken.  Instructions on how to obtain them will also be supplied.

OK, so what's this going to cost me?

After figuring in the cost of all the above materials and a little extra for my time,

I've settled on $550.00.

I make only one guarantee, that the materials used in the house are quality materials and if assembled per the instructions, the finished house will last for many years out in the elements if properly cared for.

I do not guarantee that you will get martins, that will depend on your location and if it's suitable for martins.

IF... this seems reasonable to you, then here's how to order a kit for one of my houses.

First, email me...  chuckabare@earthlink.net   I'm going to need some contact information.  At that time I'll be able to tell you WHEN I'll be able to build the kit.

NO, it is not a CHEAP house, there's a lot that goes into it.  I use only Western Cedar in its construction except for the cable slides.

The very first house I ever built is over 20 years old and is still going strong and in fact, it's the one shown in the opening photo of this page.

If this still interests you, then contact me.
